Drilling Down and Finding Idiocy

By Michael The Libertarian Recently, at a forum site that I frequent, one of the denizens of that site (We'll call him “Roger”) posted a piece by Ilya Somin from Reason.com . In “Roger”'s own editorializing, he said “Making America 'White' again” was going to be costly. I only bothered to add this tidbit because I addressed it in my initial response to “Roger”: “ I have long been talking about how "eminent domain" does little more than "steal" peoples' property at the point of a gun because the RE compensation is almost never "fair". So, as far as a general discussion about "eminent domain": I'm on board. To try to narrow it down to this one single issue is intellectually dishonest. Throw in the "making America white again" crap and it's childish. ” I was being generous to “Roger” because as I've told you, my loyal readers, the “make America 'white' again” stuff can't hones...

The Ides of December

By Michael The Libertarian So … the “Ides” of December. Being brutally frank, while I indulge in the religious aspect of Christmas, I eschew the “holiday season”. I avoid stores and shopping malls as much as possible to avoid that awful “elevator” music with the “holiday” themes. To someone who truly loves music and religious music (even if not of my faith), listening to muzak versions of “O Holy Night” or “Silent Night” is truly painful and has lost many a retailer my “holiday” shopping dollars. It doesn't happen so much here, but when I lived in New York, it always amused me how the most acerbic … ornery, even … people seemed to “find religion”, this time of year. That same person that would push you out of their way with a gruff “Move it, idiot!” in August because they were in a hurry to get to the OTB before it closed, was the same guy that would bump into you and say: “Oh! Merry Christmas!”, starting right after Thanksgiving. In all fairness, in my youth,...

Destroying America, One Sin At A Time

By Michael The Libertarian My dear readers, I come to you today saddened by recent events. I wish to speak to you, today about two of those events. The first is another terrorist attack; again, in New York City. An immigrant, a recipient of chain migration largess, publicly stated his hatred for America and Americans and taunted President Trump with a social media message saying the president had failed to protect Americans, as he went off to commit his act of martyrdom. Luckily, for New Yorkers, Ullah was no better a bomb maker than he was a master communicator. The bomb detonated before it was supposed to, doing the most injury to the would-be martyr. According to reports I've seen he may have ensured that he won't be able to contaminate the gene pool than he may have already because of the nature of his injuries. Of course, C.A.I.R. ([C]ouncil on [A]merican-[I]slamic [R]elations) has started their usual rhetoric about how the mean old NYPD and FBI h...

Justice Is Strzok a Blow!

By Michael The Libertarian So, happy Monday to all! Considering that it is Monday, I'll bet you're thinking: “Here comes another football rant!” Nah. The Left-leaning networks took care of that. They no longer show the National Anthem. “So”, you're thinking “No football. That must mean it's time for a 'generic' rant about principles!” Wrong again, I'm afraid. Let's talk about process, but process in the real world. Robert Mueller is the special counsel, appointed after James Comey was fired (for cause) by President Trump. It seems like we hear all kinds of leaks and “gotcha” moments coming out of this investigation. What we don't hear too much about – at least from “legitimate” sources like CNN and MSNBC and that ilk – is the makeup of Mueller's team and what started all the talk of “Russia! Russia! Russia!”, the Steele lies. “The Dossier” as it has been much ballyhooed started off as a piece of opposition research...

08 DEC c. BC 16, AD 1975, 1980 and 2017

By Michael The Libertarian “ Michael, what the heck is with the title?” I made sure you got this far, didn't I? Well, the first date is an approximation, but it has been designated as the day of the Feast Of the Immaculate Conception – the day Jesus' mother was born. There's a common misconception that “immaculate conception” refers to Jesus. It's not. Anyway, my point isn't to proselytize. 8 DEC, 1975 was the day my grandmother died. She being such a devout Catholic and dying on that day was significant to me. As I said, my grandmother was extremely devout. She was a slight lady – only 4' 11” – but she was a firecracker. Unfortunately, I had very little first-hand knowledge of her. I was born in '64. She suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. The doctors (of that time) had a lot less information about the condition. That's not a slam on them. It's just a fact. Their best “guess” is she suffered from the condition starting somewh...

December 7, 1941

By Michael The Libertarian A date that will live in infamy. Seventy-six years ago a swarm of Japanese zeros launched from their carriers with only one desire: wipe out the American Pacific fleet (PacFlt). This would accomplish two goals. First, obviously, it would reduce the U.S.'s ability to defend itself from Japanese attack to territories in the South Pacific. Second, it would mean the United States would have to reinforce the PacFlt with ships and resources from the Atlantic fleet (AtFlt.) which would imperil our ability to make war against the Nazis on that front. It was a move that was meant to defeat us as swiftly as possible because the Nazis knew they didn't want us entering into the war in Europe. In fact, the pacifist movement not with-standing, had we not been sucker-punched by Hirohito and Hideki Tojo, we might have entered into the war in Europe earlier, saving a few more lives than we did. It's interesting to note: the archite...

More 'Death Of Journalism'

By Michael The Libertarian I don't know why new depths to which some people sink can still amaze me. I should be used to the fall of Western civilization by now, but I'm not. Todd Starnes is a journalist, pro-life advocate, frequent guest on “ Fox & Friends ” (Fox News' morning news offering from 6:00 to 9:00 AM). I believe he's also a “Fox News Contributor” and I think he writes a column on their website. He is also the author of “ The Deplorables' Guide to Making America Great Again ” and, as you're about to find out, he has his own website, toddstarnes.com. I was tooling around the interwebz, early this morning and I stumbled across this item on Starnes' website . As I said, at the out-set, I was amazed. Flummoxed, even. With the video evidence and at least one other person (who was with the victim), I think this is probably a slam-dunk that charges will be filed, but that's not my point … My point, as I til...

Blood On Their Hands

Image
By Michael The Libertarian Twelve people, tried and true … Twelve true people. From the outset, I want to say, very clearly, I believe the jury in San Francisco deliberated and voted their conscience and that's (kind of) the disappointment. Twelve citizens, presumably “normal” (whatever that means) and of good conscience decided that an illegal alien, five times deported, who “found” (he probably stole) a gun and fired it on a pier with a bunch of people on it and killed Kate Steinle is not guilty of anything. Not guilty of anything. Well, that kind of sticks in my craw. He crossed our border SIX TIMES, illegally. He was found with drugs and (I think) was facing charges of intent to distribute. He was released and stole a weapon. He claims it accidentally discharged. Unfortunately, this is a Pablum©-puker's dream. It's those evil guns. It's not the idiots wielding them. It's the guns. So, it's not the fault of those twelve people; i...

A Return to the Way Things Aught to Be

By Michael The Libertarian For many years, I have been harping on the idea that our elected officials, most particularly our congress critters, should be voting the way we want them to vote, when we send them to Washington D.C. Now, let's not – you and I – dear reader, confuse issues. “Talking heads” are constantly repeating the false claim of: “We live in a democracy!” Actually, we don't. We live in a democratic republic. More accurately, in practice, we live in a representative democracy. Representative … It's interesting (to me, anyway) that “the peoples' house” of the congress is populated by people called “representative”. “The peoples' house” is referred to as: “The House of Representatives”. Coincidence? Well, based upon the behavior of most of those congress critters over the last fifty years or so, I would think it's more oxymoron than coincidence. These bloviating die-hards are under the mistaken impression that we elect them to be ...

The Fourth Reich

By Michael The Libertarian Emily Lindin. What a wonderfully anti-American person she must be, based upon recent tweets of hers. I'm not sure about the order in which they originally appeared, but here they are (transcribed by your humble author): “ Here’s an unpopular opinion: I’m actually not at all concerned about innocent men losing their jobs over false sexual assault/harassment allegations. ” And: “ The benefit of all of us getting to finally tell the truth + the impact on victims FAR outweigh the loss of any one man’s reputation. If some innocent men’s reputations have to take a hit in the process of undoing the patriarchy, that is a price I am absolutely willing to pay. ” Well, there's a lot to digest, there. There's nothing I can really defend. I try to do that, as often as I can, but I'm not seeing it. Let's take that first one: She's not concerned (AT ALL) about innocent men losing jobs or their reputation over false alleg...
