A Call to Action
By Michael The Libertarian
It's been a pretty rough twenty-four hours for me.
Some people lack either reading skills or reading
comprehension skills.
Sure, I can see how my blog post from yesterday might be seen
as inflammatory by the “open borders/DAESH is no threat to us”
crowd. I get that, but accusing me of calling for the death of all
Muslims was not in that piece; ANYWHERE.
What we, as a country (based upon our inaction so far), fail
to realize is war has already been declared and the enemy has shown a
tenacity that this country hasn't seen since the war in the Pacific
('41 – '45). I remember a story or two from my youth of “guys
coming out of caves” and those “guys” didn't realize the war
had been over for twenty-five or thirty years.
DAESH is basing their Jihad on a centuries-old set of
principles that we (most of us “normal” people) find offensive.
We believe they might even be war crimes (or do we turn a blind eye
to beheadings and burning people alive, in cages?).
I have also been attacked and accused of wanting to commit
those same crimes. I can absolutely see how my post might have said
that to some people, but again; that was not my intent.
I compared the tactics we used in WWII to those we have used
ever since. We haven't fought a war with the intent of defeating an
enemy since WWII. It's been “hold our ground” fighting and
“Peace-keeping missions”. I don't believe that's going to work on
this enemy? Do any of us believe that would have worked against the
Nazis or the Empire of Japan?
No, we have to fight this war to win. We have to indoctrinate
our fighting forces with the ideals that make this nation great and
show them that the two ideologies are diametrically opposed.
Keep in mind: I wouldn't be saying this if they weren't
directly making war with us. At my core, I'm an isolationist
(essentially) and “chin music” from a half a globe away means
nothing to me, but they are, systematically killing Americans (or
visitors on our soil) and that must stop.
I
am NOT
calling for a genocide. I am begging our leaders and our military to
go after this repugnant piece of barely human flotsam with the same
zeal and drive with which they come after us. Pretty simple, really.
What
people fail to realize is a legitimate declaration of war – as we
recognize it today – was issued decades ago and so far, we've been
pretending it's no big deal.
Anyone
that says DAESH is “no existential threat to us” has not been
paying attention or has been purposefully playing fast-and-loose with
our safety as a nation.
This
isn't my imagination. Read the Qur'an (As I have) and understand that
DAESH interprets it, literally and believes theirs is a “Holy”
war. They think that their cause is the most just ever (How many
times did “Christianity” go to war with just that belief?) and
they are fighting in such a way as their motivation seems to be based
upon truly held beliefs.
This
is not one of those times where we can stick our head in the sand and
pretend that this will all go away on it's own. We need to “buckle
down” and “man up” and prosecute this war like our lives and
our way of life depend
upon it, because to my mind, they do!
